In Budapest’s 7th district, on Hernád Street, near Garay Square, I am offering a youthful, cozy and extremely quiet apartment for rent. Although the apartment is not the brightest in terms of natural light, this is more than offset by its quiet location, practical design and unique character.

EXCITING INTERIOR

Upon entering the apartment, you are greeted by a well-usable, normal-sized hallway, where you can comfortably put down your coat, shoes and bag – which is an advantage in itself in today’s apartments, which are often designed without a hallway. The bedroom opens from the hallway, which overlooks the circular corridor. However, due to the corner position of the apartment, there is minimal passage here, so the room is particularly quiet. The bedroom can be used as a relaxation area, but due to its size it is primarily suitable for placing the bed and the most necessary furniture. The built-in wardrobes in the dining room provide a practical solution for storing clothes and other personal items. The bathroom and toilet are located in one room opposite the hallway. The room underwent a complete renovation four years ago, so it is still in a particularly high-quality condition. A new Ariston boiler, modern coverings, a built-in shower and a high-quality washbasin ensure comfortable use. The room is well-organized, spacious and comfortably accommodates all necessary functions. Turning right from the hall, we reach the kitchen, through which the dining room and then the living room follow. Although the kitchen is compact in size, its design is extremely practical: it makes good use of the available space. The built-in furniture in the kitchen and dining room is made of the same wood, thus giving the apartment a uniform, clean appearance. With the exception of the refrigerator, all kitchen appliances are built-in, so they are part of the apartment’s full equipment. One of the most exciting details of the apartment first appears in the dining room: the visible, original brick wall. The raw brick is also echoed in the living room, and at first glance it may even seem like a decorative element. However, upon closer inspection, it is clear that this is not a subsequently applied cladding: after the plaster was removed, the original brick wall became visible, which was of course surface-treated. This small detail gives the apartment a special character. These bricks have been in the same place for about 120 years – while Budapest and the world around them have almost completely changed. This is what makes the property really exciting: something from the original history of the building appears in a modern, youthful apartment. Additional brick surfaces also appear around the window sills, which nicely complement this unique atmosphere. Overall, this is a youthful, modern, well-maintained apartment, in which the contemporary, practical design and the character of the old building fit well together. There are many things to say about it, but one thing is for sure: it is not a one-of-a-kind apartment.

IN A GOOD LOCATION

One of the biggest advantages of the apartment is its excellent location. The Keleti Railway Station is about a 5-minute walk away, from where you can quickly reach almost any point in Budapest with the M2 and M4 metro, trains, and numerous bus lines. The services necessary for everyday life are also within easy reach: shops, a pharmacy, a bank, an ATM, a hairdresser, restaurants, and other services can all be found nearby. The nearby Garay Center, as well as the smaller shops and grocery stores in the area, offer a convenient solution for shopping. There are also many opportunities for relaxation. The Arena Mall and Cinema City are within easy reach, and the area around the Puskás Arena may be of interest to those who enjoy sports and concert programs. If you prefer greener surroundings, the City Park is also within easy reach. This area is ideal for those who like to have all the benefits of city life within reach, but do not want to spend long hours traveling. Here, transportation, shopping, services and recreational opportunities are all close by. Parking on the street is free of charge for district residents.
